Emily conducts research and disseminates the lab's findings. She's also one of our (many) resident cat ladies! When she's not busy with work, Emily has her eyes to the skies as a birdwatcher and a hobby meteorologist.

We interviewed Megan Sheppard, a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist in the Speech Neurophysiology Lab, to learn more about her work and interests. Megan gathers and analyzes speech-language data for our lab and loves working directly with our study participants and their families. She even rides along in our mobile research van, providing free speech-language screenings to children in our community. Her not-so-secret talent is portrait photography, and she often creates memorable photos for her family and friends.

We interviewed Lucas Campbell, Research Assistant in the Speech Neurophysiology Lab, to learn more about his work and interests. Lucas is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and joined the lab this spring. He assists in running and collecting data in our EEG studies. Lucas currently plans to pursue medical school for psychiatry in the future. He's also big on taking road trips to explore new places!

New paper finds brain activity differences associated with stuttering

Our new publication, Brain activity during the preparation and production of spontaneous speech in children with persistent stuttering was published in the latest issue of NeuroImage: Clinical.
Working in collaboration with Dr. Ho Ming Chow at the University of Delaware, the paper reports new findings on brain activity differences between children who stutter and those who don’t.

We sought the answers to these questions (and more) in our latest paper, Brain developmental trajectories associated with childhood stuttering persistence and recovery, published in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience.
