When she's not busy with work, she enjoys singing, antiquing, and traveling.

Read our full interview with Alexis below!

What is your role in the lab?

I’m a research speech-language pathologist. I assist with collecting clinical and experimental data for the lab’s research studies, and I also oversee the lab’s mobile research and community outreach program, identifying opportunities for us to take our research and free speech-language screenings out into our community.

What excites you most about your work?

As someone interested in neuroscience, I am excited to contribute to important research that is leading toward a better understanding of the neurological factors involved in developmental stuttering.

What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

I spend a lot of my free time with my spouse and two cats. I enjoy reading about my interests, playing video games, singing, antiquing, and traveling.

If you could learn one new skill overnight, what would you want it to be?

I would really like to become proficient in programming.

Besides the unknowns around stuttering, what’s another scientific mystery that you find interesting?

I am broadly interested in language. I am especially interested in how language is processed in the brain and how language ties into cognition and our conscious experience as humans.
