Community Outreach
We Provide Free Speech and Language Screenings!
We are proud to partner with community programs and schools to provide free speech and language screenings to children ages 3-12. One of our Certified Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) can provide evaluation of articulation and language skills during a 10-minute screening. Parents receive a brief summary of their child’s skills and have the chance to discuss the results with the SLP.
Worried about the screening line? Don't be! We bring along fun crafts for kids to complete while they wait for their turn, including our brain hats activity which helps them learn the different parts of the brain and how they work! This activity is fun and educational, making it a perfect STEM/STEAM complement to any school or community event.
Benefits of Screening
Early Detection: Identifying speech delays or potential underlying disorders early is key to providing good supports at home and school that will foster a child's learning and development in the long term. Early speech language delays are often the first red flags for neurodevelopmental conditions which affect 10-20% of the population.
Education: Through the screening process, children learn about how their brain works together with different parts of their body, like their voice box and their lips, to produce speech. This is valuable scientific knowledge, even for children who do not show signs of speech-language issues.
Health Equity: Our screenings are provided to all children, at no cost, by Certified Speech-Language Pathologists. There's no billing or health insurance involved in the process, so we can support any child and any family, regardless of their financial or insurance status.
If you are interested in scheduling a free screening event at your school or organization, we would love to work with you!
